Foot stool
The original of this extraordinary foot stool is documented to have been made by Chatard Peintre et Doreur, Faubourg Montmartre a Paris in 1788, and was inscribed in ink:”no 64,pour le service du Roi/salon de la Felicite”.This was a salon in the Pavilion de la Felicite in St Cloud, Paris ,belonging to King Louis XVI,The pavilion was acquired in 1785 by Marie Antoinette.
