ANTIQUE ITEM: A ROYAL DOULTON Breakfast and Tea service
“ST JAMES” Pattern number D6028. (1939).
A very pretty set, on a rich cream ground with polychrome flower spray in the centres.
The flowers are repeated around the rims, and in addition there is gilt lining to the moulded shaped edges.
Marked with the stamp introduced in 1928, and with a variety of other letters and numerals, principally A and 17.
Consisting of a large oval platter 34 x 27cm, a tureen and lid dia 24 x 14H, 6 dining plates, 6 side plates and 6 bread and butter plates dia’s 24,22 & 16.5, 5 soup and 6 cereal bowls dia’s 19.5 &16, tea pot & lid 13.5 H, sugar bowl dia 11 with a spoon 13cm long, 2 jugs of differing shapes 8 & 11 cm H, a cake plate dia.25.5, and 6 cups & saucers dia 25.5cm.
A chip noted on 1 egg cup. (54+2 lids, 56 pcs)
