Pagoda Blanc de Chine
Model:MI CCA 02 Tul
Very decorative 4 piece pagoda inspired by the the 17th century tulipieres which were used to grow tulip bulbs indoors. Flower bulbs from Asia such as the tulip, crocus and hyacinth became luxury items in Europe, especially in the Netherlands, where they are still a major industry. The bulbs remained an exotic novelty until the end of the 17th century. At one stage, certain bulbs were worth more than their weight in gold.
Tulipieres were classically delftware originating in the Netherlands, and were used as a status symbol to indicate the owner’s wealth.
In today’s interiors they still provide an intriguing and attractive focal interest.
These pagodas are charming used with tea lights inside.
