Fine Carved wooden mirror.
The Classic Chinoiserie Mirror is copied from an example dating from the 18th c. rage for all things Oriental which swept through Europe, with often quite fantastical results.
This example combines the European Rococo decoration of the time with motifs and details taken from the Chinese imports being widely seen for the first time, mostly on porcelain and carved wooden objects of virtu. In effect this fusion created a whole new genre.
Available in any finish: gilded (silver or gold), antiqued or painted, or limed wax to show the wood underneath.
