Classic Bronze Candle Lamp
Model: LT PKCL
A very “Classical” table lamp, copied from an antique French Restauration example of a cast candlestick.
It was most likely made by Thomas Messenger of Birmingham and London, and dates from around 1815.
All the motifs are drawn from the Ancient Roman civilisation, which had such a profound and enduring influence on design, right up to the present day.
The lamp is a very good size for a side table or a desk top reading lamp.
Cast brass with a bronze finish.
Dimensions (mm): w 200 d 200 h 450 to the fitting.
Historical note: Patterns for similar tripod lamps were published by Henry Moses “A Collection of Antique Vases, altars, Paterae, Tripods, Candelabra, Sarcophagi” London 1814
